The scientific program consists of invited plenary speakers, oral and poster presentations, a student competition, an optional cruise with jazz dinner on the Mississippi River, and plenty of opportunity to meet and chat with andrologists from around the globe.

The Hilton Riverside will be the official hotel of the conference and has reserved a block of rooms at a special convention cost for our participants.

  • A block of rooms at the Hilton Riverside New Orleans has been reserved for the AAAA at a special convention rate ($139 + tax per night] for July 14 and 15, 2018. Rooms at this rate can also be reserved up to 2 days prior and 2 days after the AAAA meeting.
  • Reservations for the AAAA meeting must be made via the link below, even if you are also attending the SSR meeting.
  • It is suggested that room reservations be made as soon as possible, and well before the cut-off date of June 14, 2018 for this special rate.

Creole Queeen paddleboat

On Sunday evening, July 15, 2018, following the plenary session, AAAA participants and guests may enjoy at a special cost (US$60.00 per person) a cruise on the Creole Queen paddleboat along the famous Mississippi River. A buffet dinner, refreshments, and live jazz band entertainment are included. Boarding of the boat will take place just a few steps from the conference location in the Hilton Riverside. Pre-registration can be done as part of the conference registration. Online registration for the paddle boat cruise ends June 14, 2018.

Fees for the conference registration and paddle boat cruise may be paid via either:

  • PayPal, using an existing PayPal account, a new (free) PayPal account or using a credit card with the PayPal system. PayPal is the preferred method of payment. PayPal will automatically send a receipt after successful payment.
  • or
  • Bank transfer. Payment can be made by arranging with your local bank to transfer funds to our bank account. A bank charge of US$25.00 will be charged for each incoming wire transfer and will be added to the conference registration fee. [Note that your local bank may also charge a fee to process the wire transfer.] Please contact Dr. Steven P. Lorton for an invoice along with the AAAA bank account details. Include complete contact details for each conference participant, type of registration (early/late; regular/student; paddle boat and number of people). Fees for multiple conference participants may be paid via one wire transfer.

General Information: Abstracts for posters and oral presentations are invited. All accepted abstracts will be published in a special issue of Animal Reproduction Science. The review committee will select abstracts to be presented as oral presentations (20 minutes, including time for questions).

Abstract Requirements and Restrictions:
  • Abstracts should consist of unpublished, original data.
  • Abstracts must be in English and prepared strictly according to the submission instructions. The language should be concise and should avoid jargon. Abbreviations must be defined and used sparingly.
  • Space limitations allow a maximum of 400 total words per abstract, including title, author[s] and affiliations. The text should contain clear objectives, experimental methods (including statistical methods), results and conclusions.
  • An individual may not be the first author of more than one accepted abstract.
  • Abstracts must be submitted in digital format using Microsoft Word. Do not send pdf files. Please use the following: Font: Times New Roman 12 pt bold for title, 10 pt for author(s) and affiliation(s), 12 pt for text of abstract, and provide full name of authors. Abstract text should be a single paragraph. Do not include subheadings within the text, such as Introduction, Results, Discussion, etc. If desired, indicate grant support, etc, at end of abstract.
  • References and tables are not permitted. Short reference citations, if necessary, should be included as part of the text, for example "survive the cryopreservation process (Lorton et al, An Reprod Sci, 1:1, 2015)" or "Lorton et al (An Reprod Sci, 1:1, 2015) described ..." Reference citations, as part of the text, will count in the total word count.
  • Abstracts must be submitted no later than March 8, 2018, 24:00 US Central Time. [Abstracts for the student competition must be submitted by March 1, 2018 24:00 US Central Time] This date will be enforced due to time limitation for publication! Receipt of abstracts will be acknowledged by return e-mail. Submitting author should indicate in cover message:
    • name of first author
    • abstract title
    • complete affiliation(s) of all author(s)
    • name and e-mail of corresponding author
    • name and e-mail of presenting author
    • preference for poster or oral presentation

  • Corresponding authors will be notified by March 15, 2018 of abstract acceptance. Entries for student competition will also be notified by this date
  • Submission of an abstract constitutes an agreement that the presenting author will attend the conference to present the abstract if the abstract is accepted. The presenting author must register for the conference prior to March 22, 2018. If the presenting author has not registered by this deadline, the corresponding / presenting author(s) will be contacted by e-mail. If the corresponding / presenting author(s) do not respond within 72 hours, the abstract will not be accepted/published.

    Epididymal, ejaculated and frozen-thawed spermatozoa are exceptionally different …….. Further research is required to fully elucidate the consequence of these changes and establish possible means to prevent or repair the damage to the glycoprotein coat of ram spermatozoa. Student Competition: Candidates for Masters, Ph.D. (or equivalent) or professional (DVM, MD, or equivalent) and veterinary residents wishing to enter the student competition should so indicate [see above] in the cover letter accompanying their abstract submission. The student entering the competition must be the first author and the presenter of the abstract. Abstracts for the student competition must be submitted by March 1, 2018 24:00 US Central Time in order to allow time for judging. Of the abstracts entered, four will be selected for presentation by the student as an oral presentation (15 minutes, including time for questions] during a special session on the afternoon of Sunday, July 15, 2018. A poster presentation will also be required. Judging will be done based upon the quality of the abstract, the poster and the oral presentation. Students selected for the competition will be awarded gratis registration to the conference. The overall winner of the competition will also be awarded a cash prize.
Note: If selected for the student competition, student must register for the meeting prior to March 22, 2018. If not registered by March 22, 2018, another abstract will be selected for the competition.

Posters: Poster must be no larger than 44 inches high by 44 inches wide (111.76 centimeters by 111.76 centimeters). Posters may be mounted either with push pins or Velcro. It is the responsibility of the presenting author to supply their own push pins or Velcro. Posters should therefore be mounted prior to 8am on day of presentation. Posters must be removed by 3pm on Monday, July 16, 2018. Posters not removed by 3pm will be discarded. Presenting authors are expected to be present at their poster during the designated time to discuss their research with meeting participants. Presenting authors will be notified of their day/time to be present at their poster.

Paper Posters: FedEx Office [located directly in the Hilton Riverside New Orleans] can print your poster and have it ready for you for hotel pick-up. FedEx Office will offer a 30% discount on printing orders for posters. Posters can be picked up in the hotel at the FedEx office [hours below]. After hours pick-up can be arranged by contacting the hotel’s front desk. FedEx Office will not charge a handling fee for posters that they print.

By car: Follow Interstate-10 to Downtown/East/Slidell, exiting at Poydras St. Off-ramp becomes Poydras St., following Poydras south to its end at the hotel's front circle drive entrance.

It is the responsibility of each person attending the AAAA conference to ensure that he/she has the necessary documents for entry into the USA and then return to his/her country. It is recommended that you check with your institution's travel office, and or local consulate/embassy for specific details. It is also recommended that travel documents be obtained as soon as possible [even 6 months in advance of the conference!].
