The program (pdf) will include a reception, plenary speakers, oral and poster presentations, a student competition, an optional evening social 4-course dinner, and plenty of opportunity to meet and chat with andrologists from around the globe.

The Zanhotel Europa will be the official hotel for the conference. A block of room has been reserved in the hotel at a special convention cost for conference participants. The conference itself will take place in the Zanhotel Europa.

  • A block of guest rooms at the Zanhotel Europa has been reserved for AAAA participants for June 26-28, 2020. The rate for these rooms will be 104 Euros per night, single occupancy, inclusive of VAT and inclusive of a hot breakfast buffet. Double occupancy supplement is 20 Euros per night. A mandatory city tax of 4 to 6 Euros per person per night will be added. Rooms at this rate can also be reserved beginning June 24, 2020 until July 1, 2020. See below for the guest room reservation procedure.
    It is suggested that guest room reservations be made as soon as possible, and well before the April 25, 2020 cut-off date for the special conference rate.
  • Reservation for the AAAA conference must be made via the link below, even if also attending the ICAR meeting.
Conference Registration Fees: restraunt Online registration (see Conference Registration tab below) ends June 1, 2020. Registration may be done at the conference. US$650.00 [cash] or 580.00 Euros [cash only] accepted.

 

Optional Conference Dinner Social:

On Saturday, June 27, 2020, following the plenary session, AAAA participants and guests may enjoy a special conference 4-course dinner. Pre-registration (US$59.00) can be done as part of the online conference registration. Space is limited; therefore, it is unknown if conference dinner tickets will be available at the on-site conference registration.

Important Notes:

Guest room registration at the Zanhotel Europa:
Guest room rates: 104 Euros per night [124 Euros double] room per night, including VAT of 10% and breakfast, free WiFi within the guest rooms and meeting rooms. Mandatory city tax of 3-5 Euros not included.

Fees for the conference registration and optional conference dinner may be paid via either:

  • PayPal, using an existing PayPal account, a new (free) PayPal account, or using a credit card with the PayPal system. PayPal is the preferred method of payment. PayPal will automatically send a receipt after successful payment.

  • Bank transfer. Payment can be made by arranging with your local bank to transfer funds to our bank account. A bank charge of US$35.00 will be charged for each incoming wire transfer and will be added to the conference registration fee.   2. If you wish to attend the conference dinner, click on "continue shopping" in the upper right corner of the shopping cart. Then, use the next pull down menu, to select number of tickets. Click on 'add to cart". Complete payment using your PayPal account. If you would like to use a credit card, click on "check out" and complete form, OR if you do NOT wish to attend the dinner, after reaching the shopping cart, continue to pay the registration fee[s] using your PayPal account. Abstracts for posters and oral presentations are invited. All accepted abstracts will be published in a special issue of Animal Reproduction Science. The review committee will select 8 abstracts to be presented as oral presentations (20 minutes, including time for questions). Participants giving oral presentations will not also have a poster presentation.

Abstract Requirements and Restrictions:
  • Abstracts should consist of unpublished, original data.
  • Abstracts must be in English and prepared strictly according to the submission instructions. The language should be concise and should avoid jargon. Abbreviations must be defined and used sparingly.
  • Space limitations allow a maximum of 400 total words per abstract, including title, author[s] and affiliations. The text should contain clear objectives, experimental methods (including statistical methods), results and conclusions.
  • An individual may not be the first author of more than one accepted abstract.
  • Abstracts must be submitted in digital format using Microsoft Word. Do not send pdf files. Please use the following: Font: Times New Roman 12 pt bold for title, 10 pt for author(s) and affiliation(s), 12 pt for abstract text. Include full name of all authors (not abbreciations or initials). Abstract text should be a single paragraph. Do not include subheadings within the text, such as Introduction, Results, Discussion, etc. If desired, indicate grant support, etc, at end of abstract.
  • Provide *corresponding author e-mail address and **presenting author e-mail address [see abstract sample]. If corresponding and presenting author is same, use the following: *presenting/corresponding author: xxxxxx@xx.xxc
  • References and tables are not permitted. Short reference citations, if necessary, should be included as part of the text, for example "survive the cryopreservation process (Lorton et al, An Reprod Sci, 1:1, 2015)" or "Lorton et al (An Reprod Sci, 1:1, 2015) described ..." Reference citations, as part of the text, will count in the total word count.
  • Abstracts for the student competition must be submitted by February 15, 2020, 24:00 US Central Time.
  • All other abstracts must be submitted no later than February 22, 2020, 24:00 US Central Time.

  • Corresponding authors will be notified by March 9, 2020 of abstract acceptance. Entries for student competition will also be notified by this date
  • Submission of an abstract constitutes an agreement that the presenting author will attend the conference to present the accepted abstract. The presenting author must register for the conference prior to March 23, 2020. If the presenting author has not registered and paid fees by this deadline, the corresponding author will be contacted by e-mail. If the corresponding/presenting author does not respond within 72 hours, the abstract will not be accepted/published.

Abstract Sample
Cryopreservation and subpopulations from epididymal sperm of domestic felines. Anne Kemmer Souza, Luiz Guilherme Corsi Trautwein, Cristiane Sella Paranzini, Ana Beatriz Marques de Almeida*, and Maria Isabel Mello Martins**; State University of Londrina (UEL), Londrina, Paraná – Brazil; *corresponding author: biamarquesvet30@gmail.com; **presenting author: imartins@uel.br.

The aim of this study was to identify epididymal spermatozoa subpopulations in cats and analyze the frequency of spermatozoa in these subpopulations when fresh, and after 24 and 48 hours of refrigeration. Twenty testicles from ... [Research supported by grant #1234 from Dept of Agriculture].

Candidates for Masters, Ph.D. (or equivalent) or professional (DVM, MD, or equivalent) and veterinary residents wishing to enter the student competition should so indicate [see abstract requirements] in the cover letter accompanying their abstract submission. The student entering the competition must be the first author and the presenting author of the abstract. Abstracts for the student competition must be submitted by February 15, 2020 24:00 US Central Time in order to allow time for judging.

Five abstracts will be selected for presentation by the student as an oral presentation (15 minutes each, including time for questions] during a special session on the afternoon of Sunday, June 28, 2020. A poster presentation will also be required. Final judging will be done by a committee based upon the quality of the abstract, the poster and the oral presentation. Students selected for the competition will be awarded a cash prize.
Note: : If selected for the competition, the student must be registered and fees paid by March 22, 2020; otherwise, another abstract will be selected for the competition.

Posters must be no larger than 100 cm high x 90 cm wide. Posters may be mounted with paper tape. It is the responsibility if the presenting author to supply their own mounting material. Presenters will be notified, prior to the conference, of the day of their presentation, as well as the designated time when they are expected to be present at their poster to discuss their research with conference participants.

By airplane: Guglielmo Marconi International Airport [BLQ] is located approximately 8 km from the Zanhotel Europa. Travel to/from the airport can be by taxi [approx. 30 Euros to the hotel] or by bus [AeroBus, 7 Euros each direction] to the central train station in Bologna. The central train station is approximately a 5 minute walk to the Zanhotel Europa. Conference participants will receive along with their registration acknowledgement a map showing the location of the hotel and train station.

 

By train: Bologna is a main junction for the italian high-speed trains and therefore can be reached easily from other European gateways. It is the responsibility of each person attending the AAAA conference to ensure that he/she has the necessary documents for entry into Italy / EU and then return to his/her country. It is also recommended that travel documents be obtained as soon as possible [even 6 months in advance of the conference!].

FicoAAAA participants and guests arriving before and / or remaining after the conference in Bologna may enjoy many other activities:
    • FICO is a large facility of 25 acres, of which 5 are dedicated to agriculture and farming, and 20 by processing factories, restaurants, markets, classrooms and theaters. Admission is free. Visitors can wonder the exhibits to gain an appreciation and sample Italian food and produce, and learn about Italian agriculture. Transport to the FICO is easy; buses [7 Euros roundtrip] leave and return on a regular bases across from the central station. See: www.eatalyworld.it
    • City Red Bus [www.cityredbus.com] is an open-top bus with an audio-guide in 8 languages, with stops around the city. "Stop and Go" tickets can be purchased at the Bologna Welcome Center in the Piazza Maggiore [about 20 minutes walking from the Zanhotel Europa] or can be purchased on the bus. Tickets are valid all day.
    • Walking tours [fee required]: Two-hour walking tours of the city depart on a regular basis from the Bologna Welcome office in Piazza Maggiori. Tours are offered in Italian and English.
    • Bologna museums, piazzas, museums, old city, dining and shopping: Bologna offers many hours of touring, all within walking distance from the Zanhotel Europa. A tourist map will be available at the conference registration desk.
    • The University of Bologna is considered to be the oldest university in the Western world. Its alumni include many great names of science and literature and it is a keystone and a point of reference for European culture. Apart from that, the central campus is historic and easily traversed, and has a number of museums that are of great potential interest for attendees.
